This photo tells us much more than a historical fact that South Korea fought in Vietnam, catering for the needs of the United States of America. That is how brutal Koreans were during the Vietnam War. They look like "Predators" seen in the American movie.
You can count how many ROK soldiers are in the photo. They are all smiling. They are smiling after the victory, in which they brutally killed Vietnamese and cut their ears off and then strung them onto the wire for completing a sort of “Hawaiian Flower (Ears) Lei”. South Korea has never apologized to Vietnam for their brutality including raping thousands of women. They left thousands of orphans behind.

Although its actual cost was JPY8.7 million, what's left is said to have been divided and pocketed by the Communist members concerned with its establishment. Mr. Tanabe was enthusiastic about the promotion of Japan-North Korea friendly relationship as shown in his visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in 1990 up until the abduction of the Japanese nationals by DPRK was finally confirmed by DPRK in 2002. Note: The General Council of Trade Unions of Japan was the largest labor union before the end of the Greater East Asia War. General Headquarters (called "GHQ" in Japan) headed by General Douglas MacArthur helped reorganize it with much emphasis on political aspects when established on July, 1950. When the National Revolutionary Army (NRA) attacked Nanking on March 24, 1927, the Chinese soldiers disobedient to the army regulations and Chinese civilians totally indifferent to the laws and orders relentlessly attacked and indulged in looting the Japanese residences and shops. They furthermore inflicted violent acts and injuries on the Japanese residents (including children and women). A particular attention must be paid to the fact that they even attacked a consul at Consulate of Japan in Nanking and plundered every item.

One soldier of our Imperial Japanese Navy who came to rescue them was killed by a stray bullet. In the incident, Japanese citizens of 51 households suffered damages and one soldier was killed. Total damages were estimated to be more than 2.31 million Yen. -from a report made by Mr. Mamoru Shigemitsu, Minister of Consulate-General of Japan in China.

Note: 2.31 million Yen is estimated to be 1.3 billion Yen at the current value.

I'm beginning to gradually develop a clearer picture of why Australia has been a hard-line proponent of the anti-whaling cause in the Southern Hemisphere, compared with other anti-whaling nations. Its firm and un-compromising position helps us portray a picture of the nation desperately reminding the world of the Australian claim to territorial sovereignty in Antarctica rather than being deeply intertwined with the demonstration of its persistent antagonism against Japan's whaling activities.

According to the Australian government, it claims that its Antarctic territory covers nearly 5.9 million square kilometers, about 42% of Antarctica and nearly 80% of the total area of Australia itself.

The Conference on Antarctica held in Washington, D.C. on October 15, 1959 produced "the Antarctic Treaty" agreed and signed on December 1, the same year by the following 12 nations; The Governments of Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Chile, the French Republic, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, the Union of South Africa, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States of America.

What Article IV of the present Treaty stipulates is interpreted as and surmarized into "freezing of any claims to territorial sovereignty in Antarctica as long as the Treaty is in force.

It is easily assumed that Australia strongly objects Japan's whaling activities in Antarctic ocean not only for reminding the world of its territorial claim and but also possibly for reinforcing it by stretching its tentacles with the use of a terrorist group, Sea Shepherd, and even with the help of the governments of the United States, New Zealand, and Netherlands. Among them, Australia and New Zealand are claimants and the United States of America reserves its right to make a claim in the original Antarctic Treaty while Japan is a non-claimant.

Whenever Sea Shepherd refers to the Antarctic Ocean, it uses an expression "the Australian Antarctic waters" as if to say that the Antarctic Ocean has been recognized as the Australian territorial waters. Or even Sea Shepherd insists that the Government of Australia dispatch navy ships to stop the Japan's whaling activities. Besides, Sea Shepherd has already declared to execute "Suicidal Kamikaze Attack" on the Japanese whaling fleet consistently pursing lawful and peaceful whaling activities in the Antarctic Ocean.

Considering the fact that a cohort of terrorists "Sea Shepherd" has been fully protected by the Government of Australia, their statements seem to be probably threatening to the parties of the Antarctica Treaty and particularly to Japan, thereby misleading us to think that the Government of Australia has violated Article I of the Treaty, stipulating"Antarctica shall be used for peaceful purposes only. There shall be prohibited, inter alia, any measures of a military nature, such as the establishment of military bases and fortifications, the carrying out of military maneuvers, as well as the testing of any type of weapons."

The Government of Australia and Sea Shepherd should keep it in mind that the Treaty did not parse out the competing sovereignty claims, however, it established a system of joint-governance by the Treaty parties, including Japan.

Relocation of U.S. Futenma Base in Question #UN

Mr. Tokushin Yamauchi questioned PM Noda over a reply "I have no detailed and correct knowledge of the incident." recently made by Defense Minister Mr. Ichikawa, to a question of how much he knew about the 1995 Okinawa rape incident.

Three U.S. servicemen, U.S. Navy Seaman Marcus Gill and U.S. Marines Rodrico Harp and Kendrick Ledet, all from Camp Hansen on Okinawa, rented a van and kidnapped a 12-year-old Japanese girl. They beat her, duct-taped her eyes and mouth shut, and bound her hands. Gill and Harp then raped her, while Ledet claimed he only pretended to do so out of fear of Gill. The incident has led to the movement of demanding U.S. to return U.S.Futenma  base to Japan. The Government of Japan has been discussing relocation of Futenma U.S. base to Henoko, Okinawa with the Government of the United States for years.

His reply has angered many. They now believe that he is not qualified to work as Defense Minister, supposedly promoting relocation work through sincere consultation with the local people in Okinawa.

The opposition parties are now considering submission of censure motion against him on the final day of the current Diet session. However, Mr. Ichikawa seems determined to hold on to his post of Defense Minister, being backed by PM Noda.

The Fukushima Daiichi disaster has now forced the island country to re-examine the safety of its nuclear facilities. Naoto Kan, Japan's prime minister until he resigned in August, called in July for Japan to wind down its nuclear program, and his successor, Yoshihiko Noda, agrees. Kan also requested the closure and upgrade of a power plant in the earthquake-prone coastal city of Hamaoka, a facility whose safety Kaido had called into question nearly a decade earlier. Had he won the Hamaoka case, Kaido said, this year's disaster "could have been prevented." Today, Fukushima and Kaido see a changed political horizon. As Fukushima told the New York Times in August, "Although I won't be able to change the past, I think I can change the future."
