According to TV news, three North Koreans found adrift off Okinoshima Island in the Sea of Japan, Shimane Prefecture, Japan and rescued by the Japan Coast Guard have consistently denied that they defected North Korea, with a desire to return back to North Korea.
They still insist that while they were fishing in a small wooden boat (7 meter long), it developed an engine trouble. However, the Japan Coast Guard found neither fishing gears nor any evidence indicating their fishing activities in the Sea of Japan although the boat was equipped with GPS. The Japan Coast Guard also found empty water and fuel tanks.
The Immigration Control Bureau of the Ministry of Justice may grant them a temporary permit to land in Japan and may transfer them to Immigration Control Center tomorrow.
Note: Takeshima Islets still illgally occupied by the Republic of Korea (=South Korea) is part of Okinoshima Island, Shimane Prefecture, Japan.
A few expresses need for harmonized efforts (?) to deal with the outrageous and unlawful Chinese fishing activities between Japan and Republic of Korea; however, Japan's harmonization with ROK is not realistic at all as we face serious violations of our fishing sovereignty by ROK, deeply rooted in its unilateral establishment of Syngman Rhee Line by which ROK killed our 44 men and abducted about 4,000 men until its abolishment. Even now ROK violates our fishing sovereignty and yet has abducted our coast guard men.
We have 200,000 fishermen in Japan while China has 8 million fishermen. This reality (a huge difference in numbers of fishermen) suggests the possibility that they are special forces under the guise of fishermen, so as to secure and to expand their maritime interests. Other reports say that among them, there are those who seem to have never used pencils. In other words, they pose greater difficulties to us since they are just preoccupied with maximizing their catch, not having any knowledge of international laws, EEZ, etc. and not being aware that they are working as special forces of China.
Nagasaki Coast Guard Office has arrested a Chinese fishing vessel captain who reportedly violated Japan's fishing laws requiring any vessels to stop and accept inspection when ordered in Japan's territorial waters. Two Chinese fishing vessels were spotted at around 10:00 am on November 6. They were ordered to stop in Chinese. One escaped arrest and the other was forced to stop by Japan Coast Guard after 4 hours 30 minutes of chase.
It is the internationally recognized fact that the Korean peninsula has been a great source of generating "pain in the ass" although it seems that the people on the peninsula have never realized it. One good solution the decent world came up with in 2007 was to let them realize it by keeping its rep. posted as UN Chief.
Regrettably, they seem to have totally failed to realize a very considerate and concessional expression of sympathy toward them. The only thing the decent world should expect is nothing but disappointment.
Turning readers' attention to the stated aims of the United Nations, they are to facilitate cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and achievement of world peace. And, UN system is based on five principal organs, one of which is the International Court of Justice.
On Oct. 24, 2007 (UN Day), Ban Ki-moon prepared and distributed pamphlets "Welcome to KOREA" at the concert held by him in the capacity of UN Chief and attended by 1,600 diplomats and others.
The pamphlets prepared and distributed by UN Chief BanKi-Moon from S. Korea describes Takeshima islets as being part of S. Korea and Sea of Japan as East Sea, taking advantage of his position as UN Chief.
Despite a strong protest from Japan, he did not bother neither to take the pamphlets back from the attendants nor to apologize to Japan for his lack of decency in the important international event, knowing that the Government of Japan has been demanding the government of south korea to appear at the International Court of Justice over Takeshima issue for decades, and knowing that "Sea of Japan" is an internationally recognized naming except where terrorists live in. Namely, South Korea and North Korea.
And, he even stated to his people that he would do his best to contribute to the development of his own country "South Korea" when he visited S. Korea in July 3, 2008.
Sack UN Chief Ban Ki-moon over his unfair practice at UN and strongly biased toward Japan and her people!
A Profile of Ban Ki-moon:
