Today I visited US Navy Yokosuka base and participated in 19th annual CFAY Spring Festival. Below you will find some of the photos taken today to give you an idea of the annual event. It is a regret that we have no cherry blossom blooming in the Kanto area yet due to the weather colder than usual or the winter started late. See [Updated] Cherry Blossom (Sakura) Blooming Forecast 2012
It was a beautiful day today although it was a bit cold. This annual event has been well known among the locals for sometime. So, what usually happens is a huge crowd and mile-long lines of visitors waiting to enter the US naval base. By the time I reached the security post, I felt so exhausted and hungry.
After I was thoroughly checked, I ran for vendor booths but what I found again was long lines of people waiting to buy foods and drinks. I spent at least one hour to enter the base and 30 minutes to buy my smoked Turkey leg, Officers Club Burger, and a drink.

At a gathering in Tokyo on December 5, ex-Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama stated that while led by the Office of Prime Minister, we must continue to look for the best possible relocation site for U.S. Futenma Marine Corps Base other than Henoko, Okinawa Prefecture.
Hatoyama stressed "The Government of the United States never thinks I have torn up Japan-U.S. relations because I received a letter from President Obama soon after my resignation, saying that he appreciates my efforts in trying to solve a thorny Futenma relocation issue."
In the months after the tsunami-induced meltdowns at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station this spring, anti-nuclear sentiment swept Japan, which relied on atomic energy for about 30 percent of its electricity before the accident. Although devastated by their country's losses, Mizuho Fukushima and Yuichi Kaido were less surprised by the disaster. Fukushima, the lawmaker who leads Japan's Social Democratic Party, and her partner, Kaido, a public-interest lawyer, have spent three decades resisting Japan's nuclear rise in their respective arenas: parliament and court. But the cozy nuclear plant operators and government officials who make up Japan's so-called "nuclear village" largely ignored their efforts -- that is, until this year.
The Fukushima Daiichi disaster has now forced the island country to re-examine the safety of its nuclear facilities. Naoto Kan, Japan's prime minister until he resigned in August, called in July for Japan to wind down its nuclear program, and his successor, Yoshihiko Noda, agrees. Kan also requested the closure and upgrade of a power plant in the earthquake-prone coastal city of Hamaoka, a facility whose safety Kaido had called into question nearly a decade earlier. Had he won the Hamaoka case, Kaido said, this year's disaster "could have been prevented." Today, Fukushima and Kaido see a changed political horizon. As Fukushima told the New York Times in August, "Although I won't be able to change the past, I think I can change the future."

Japan's Territorial Issue "Takeshima": No one casts any doubts over Japan's territorial claim over Takeshima islets. However, it is reported that South Korea often turns a table upside down whenever Japan brings up Takeshima issue. Supopse you are working as a diplomat. How will you react if your counterpart all of a sudden stands up and turns a negotiating table upside down?
It is the internationally recognized fact that the Korean peninsula has been a great source of generating "pain in the ass" although it seems that the people on the peninsula have never realized it. One good solution the decent world came up with in 2007 was to let them realize it by keeping its rep. posted as UN Chief.
Regrettably, they seem to have totally failed to realize a very considerate and concessional expression of sympathy toward them. The only thing the decent world should expect is nothing but disappointment.
Turning readers' attention to the stated aims of the United Nations, they are to facilitate cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and achievement of world peace. And, UN system is based on five principal organs, one of which is the International Court of Justice.
On Oct. 24, 2007 (UN Day), Ban Ki-moon prepared and distributed pamphlets "Welcome to KOREA" at the concert held by him in the capacity of UN Chief and attended by 1,600 diplomats and others.
The pamphlets prepared and distributed by UN Chief BanKi-Moon from S. Korea describes Takeshima islets as being part of S. Korea and Sea of Japan as East Sea, taking advantage of his position as UN Chief.
Despite a strong protest from Japan, he did not bother neither to take the pamphlets back from the attendants nor to apologize to Japan for his lack of decency in the important international event, knowing that the Government of Japan has been demanding the government of south korea to appear at the International Court of Justice over Takeshima issue for decades, and knowing that "Sea of Japan" is an internationally recognized naming except where terrorists live in. Namely, South Korea and North Korea.
And, he even stated to his people that he would do his best to contribute to the development of his own country "South Korea" when he visited S. Korea in July 3, 2008.
Sack UN Chief Ban Ki-moon over his unfair practice at UN and strongly biased toward Japan and her people!
A Profile of Ban Ki-moon:
A well-known anti-Japan South Korean who served as 33rd Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, South Korea from January 17, 2004 to November 10, 2006. He is currently serving as 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations. He assumed office on January 1, 2007.

In relation to political donations of USD 811,688 (calculated at the rate of JPY 77 against USD) made to a group branched from "Citizens Party" by former Prime Minister Kan through his political fund management organization named "Soushi Kai", literally meaning Grass Ambition, it is learned on September 5 that Special Task Force Unit of Tokyo District Prosecutor's Office has accepted a bill of indictment filed by residents of Kanagawa Prefecture. Special Task Force Unit will begin its investigation to examine possibility of pursuing criminal charges. Thus, his political donations may develop into a criminal case.
A bill of indictment states that Kan's political fund management organization "Soushi Kai" has made political donations of USD 649,350 (calculated at the rate of JPY77 against USD) in 8 installments in 2007 to a political party "The Party To Take Over The Governmet of Japan", a group branched from "Citizens Party". The accounting book kept by Kan's fund organization shows negative balance of payments from May 8 that year. Besides, the book shows no record of borrowing money from any sources.
The bill further states that Kan has failed to record incomes which he should have; therefore, he has violated Political Funds Control Law since he clearly stated "In my own judgment." in reply to a question raised over his political donations if they were made based on his judgement.
According to the Sankei Newspaper, the Democratic Party of Japan has made political donations of USD 2,017,272 (calculated at the rate of JPY 77 against USD) to a political party "The Party To Take Over The Governmet of Japan", a group branched from "Citizens Party".
Kan has been accused of violating Political Funds Control Law over acceptance of political donations made by a Korean citizen living in Japan.
Mr. Masahisa Sato tweets "I stopped over in Seoul, South Korea on the way to Uzbekistan and exchanged views with Ambassador Muto (Japanese Ambassador to the Republic of Korea). Although no reply on refusal of our entry from the government of South Korea has been made yet, my entry into South Korea this time may hint some sort of its reply to our protest. Sweating to strengthen true bilateral relations between Japan and South Korea. "
In reply to the above tweet, Bonta tweets "I assume that the government of South Korea must have fully understood the entire development from refusal of entry to demonstration against Fuji TV for broadcasting biased programs and must have desired harmonization rather than confrontation, considering its heavy economic dependence on Japan. I believe that we will see progress in Takeshima issue only after revision to our Constitution will be made and our true restoration of sovereignty will be achieved.
My comment:
I have no way of knowing views exchanged (on outrageous refusal of three Japanaese lawmakers by the government of South Korea) between Ambassador Muto and Mr. Sato. However, I can easily presume that the government of South Korea has sufficiently realized its disadvantegeous position in free and democratic community of the world through a series of blatant diplomatic misbehaviours in relation to Takeshima issue.
After all, the government of South Korea has been left with nothing but two options; that is, either to become accountable for the occurence of the unprecedented incident between Japan and South Korea which will subsequently force the government of South Korea to face international justice or crawl into a hole and dissapear if there is one left for South Korea.
It is quite true that a majority of the Japanese people considers the current Constitution of Japan as an obstacle to Japan becoming fully independent. Bonta's tweet gives us a number of implications which I will gradually describe in my future posts.
To begin with, one comment made by a South Korean and two replies to the comment will be introduced before focusing on a subject of how South Koreans reacted to the visit by three Japanese lawmakers and also on their reactions that might have violated the South Korean penal code in a number of ways.

As long as Japanese express delusions over Takeshima issue, we will have to get united with China, Taiwan, Russia, and North Korea for attacking and annihilating the Japanese race, thereby destroying Japan.

Reporter said: I am reporting from a terminal of Gimpo airport in Seoul. I understand that demonstrations are usually prohibited within airport terminals. However, as you can see, banners are all over. Many members of civil activist groups are gathering to protest against three Japanese lawmakers' visit.
Korean activists said: "Apologize and return back to Japan!"
Newscaster said: Some activists are placing black tapes on photos of three lawmakers and then set fire on the banner. I really wonder what they are trying to do. And, they are messing up terminal floor with curry power. They have prepared three caskets. Two girls are trying to kick a guy probably acting like "Sumo wrestler". All of these performances show their violent feelings of refusal for three Japanese lawmakers to enter South Korea.
Mr. Shindo Yoshitaka said: The case that instead of securing our free passage and safety in South Korea, we representing Japanese nationals are refused to enter South Korea will develop into a major diplomatic issue.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Mr. Yukio Edano said: We just can't accept such a measure taken against our lawmakers legally trying to enter South Korea.
Newscaster said: Their visit to Ulleung Island was announced on July 15. Three lawmakers are members of a special committee on territories established within the Liberal Democratic Party whose purpose is to carry out research on Takeshima issue. Ulleung Island is situated about 90 kilometers west of Takeshima islets. On Ulleung Island South Korea has a museum displaying articles related to their territorial claim over Takeshima islets. Three lawmakers were scheduled to visit the museum on the island. South Korea have incorporated Takeshima islets into Ulleung municipality. The government of South Korea had earlier informed the Government of Japan that three lawmakers would be refused to enter South Korea. Lee Jaeoh, Specially Appointed Minister is visiting Takeshima islets today as if to show his intention to restrain three Japanese lawmakers to visit Ulleung Island.
Mr Shindo Yosihtaka said: If we don't go there, we would look like giving in to their threat.
Newscaster said: Three lawmakers are Mr. Shindo Yoshitaka, a member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Sato Masahisa, a member of the House of Councilors, and Ms.Inada Tomomi, a member of the House of Representatives. They are all members of the Liberal Democratic Party. They calmly explained their purpose of visit to the press.
Mr. Shindo Yoshitaka said: Our purpose of visit is not to wave our national flag and not to engage in any activities related to Japan's territorial claim over Takeshima islets. We just go there. That's all.
Mr. Sato Masahisa said: We are not trying to stage any uprising there but we really want to see their basis for territorial claim and its historical background.
Ms. Inada Tomomi said: We intend to promote a true friendship with South Korea by objectively observing their claim. So, I really hope that they will let us in.
Reporter said: South Korean activists are trying to break into arrival area.
Newscaster said: This is a kind of treatment they would have received if they entered South Korea.
South Korean activists said: Three Japanese lawmakers will be burnt to death under the name of South Koreans.
One activist said: They are totally wrong even to think of visiting our territory. If we go to Shimane Prefecture, claiming that Shimane is ours, will you let us come in?
Japanese tourist said: I have been so shocked to see what's happening there. I'm a little bit worried.
Newscaster said: Immigration Control Act (Republic of Korea) has an article stipulating that persons deemed likely to commit any act detrimental to national interests of the Republic of Korea or public safety. It seems that South Korea has applied this article to the case of three Japanese lawmakers. South Korean YTN news reported in the afternoon that Japanese lawmakers have been refused to enter South Korea since they claim Japan's territorial sovereignty over Takeshima islets. The case that Japanese lawmakers were refused to enter South Korea has been considered as a very unusual situation.
Some South Koreans might have violated the South Korean penal code:
Remarks on South Korean Penal Code

Article 110 stipulates that the crime prescribed under the preceding articles 107,108, and 109 shall not be prosecuted against the express will of a foreign government.
The Republic of Korea Might Have Violated Immigration Control Act:
What is a definition of "Terrorists" in South Korea? This question is asked because the government of South Korea treated three Japanese lawmakers as if to say they are terrorists and because the government of South Korea has not responded to this question raised by three lawmakers yet.
Article 11 (Prohibition, etc. of Entry)
(1)The Minister of Justice may prohit the entry of a foreigner who falls under any of the following sub-paragraphs:
3. Persons deemed likely to commit any act detrimental to national interests of the Republic of Korea or public safety.
A Failure to Secure Free Passage and Safety of Three Japanese Lawmakers
Mr. Shindo Yoshitaka said: The case that instead of securing our free passage and safety in South Korea, we representing Japanese nationals are refused to enter South Korea will develop into a major diplomatic issue.
The statement made by South Korean pres. Lee "We don't guarantee safety of three lawmakers if they visit South Korea. " suggests nothing but a threat to three Japanese lawmakers. Mr. Lee should have exerted every possible effort to secure free passage and safety of three Japanese lawmakers instead of instigating his people to act against Japan and her people.
Diplomatic Reciprocity
While South Korea discusses "social responsibility" with UN Chief placing a greater emphasis on involvement of intellectuals and academics, South Korea has neglected a basic rule in the international community. That is, to observe an internationally recognized rule of reciprocity.
Japan welcomed a mission consisting of South Korean parliamentarians, intellectuals, academics, etc. to visit Takeshima museum in Shimane Prefecture on February 22. However, South Korea flatly and outrageously rejected three Japanese lawmakers to enter South Korea for the purpose of visiting Ulleung Island where South Korea has a museum displaying articles related to its territorial claim over Takeshima islets. This is not only a total denial of reciprocity but also a violation of Article 11-1-3 of South Korean Immigration Control Law.
Therefore, South Korean government must be accountable for the occurrence of the unprecedented incident between Japan and South Korea still said to be maintaining the closest relations in many respects. Access VOJ via Tweeting at Outrageous Refusal of Three Japanese Lawmakers to Enter South Korea
It is crystal clear that four northern islands and Takeshima islets have been integral part of Japan. However, four northern territories and Takeshima have been illegally occupied. U.S.A. loves to regard Takeshima issue and four northern territories issue as territorial disputes although Japan sees nothing disputable as they have been historically integral part of Japan.
U.S.A. has been much concerned over Libya's future and U.S.-China relations right now. Only limited number of Americans are aware of Japan's territorial issues. Only few Americans have recognized the fact that South Koreans attacked and occupied Takeshima on Jan. 18, 1952 (Read Takeshima Day竹島の日Should Be Remembered Along With January 18, 1952-A Date Which Will Live In Infamy ) while U.S. news media report on Japan-S. Korea issues, always beginning with emphasis on Japan's brutal colonial occupation of Korea which in fact has been fabricated by U.S.A. , thereby encouraging South Korea to act against Japan.
Below you will find a part of the story ( taken from Wikipedia) about Commodore Perry's way of negotiating with Japan; that is, "Threatening Japan at gunpoint". Is this a Yakuza Way? Or, at least it should be defined as "terrorism". This is a beginnig of "Nightmare" to Japan.
As he arrived, Perry ordered his ships to steam past Japanese lines towards the capital of Edo, and position their guns towards the town of Uraga. Perry refused to abide to demands to leave. He then demanded permission to present a letter from President Millard Fillmore, and threatened to use force if the Japanese boats around the American squadron did not disperse.
Perry attempted to intimidate the Japanese by presenting them a white flag and a letter which told them that in case they chose to combat, the Americans would necessarily vanquish them.Perry's ships were equipped with new Paixhans shell guns, capable of wreaking great destruction with every shell. The term "Black Ships", in Japan, would later come to symbolize a threat imposed by Western technology.
After the Japanese agreed to receive the letter from the American President, Perry landed at Kurihama (in modern-day Yokosuka) on July 14, 1853presented the letter to delegates present, and left for the Chinese coast, promising to return for a reply.
Fortifications were built in Tokyo Bay at Odaiba in order to protect Edo from possible American naval incursion.

A majority of the American citizens are ignorant of the fact that Japan had made every possible move to promote friendship with U.S.A. in those days. The government of U.S.A. still tends to pick up stories it considers suited to propagate only a good image of U.S.A. while neglecting a true history.
I have just been exposed to a story of Canadian man named Pierre Pariseau said to have obstructed "Authorized Gathering" held at Yasukuni Shrine where all Japanese nationals consider sacred and holy as it enshrines more than 2.46 million war dead and those who devoted lives to the nation.
I have read a few articles written in English (including The Japan Times: This paper no longer represents "Voice of Japan" at all.) dealing with this incident, which I believe all biased against Japan and her people due to their education received at schools.
It seems that they are all taught "Japan was an evil in every respect in the last war, so as to justify their atrocities committed against Japan and Asian states. Remember who colonized Asia and Africa. And, remember who stood up alone against the western colonialists to emancipate the Asian population from the western domination. Simply because Japan stood up for justice and freedom in Asia, Japan was regarded as an obstacle to realize the colonization of the entire world by the whites.
Just think, say, one Japanese man goes to Arlington Cemetery every year on Memorial Day and all of sudden tells the American families visiting there to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers "You would be arrested if you beautified the atrocities (Hiroshima massacre, Nagasaki massacre, etc.) your fathers and sons committed against Japan." The American families there would certainly get upset about it and would consider it obstructive to their holy and sacred service being conducted there.
Almost all articles treat those who appear in the video attached below, as right wingers or rightists. What they are all saying is that anyone who loves his one own country and wants to defend his own country is a rightist. Particularly every Japanese has to accept all the stories fabricated by the victors in the last war. Otherwise, they are all rightists. This is only a move to weaken Japan and her people, so as to control them as they wish.
Anyway, the video says in Japanese that he was taken to the Police Box called "KOBAN" based on KOBAN system (now well known in Asia and introduced through Japan's technical cooperation in the area of Criminal Justice in collaboration with the United Nations). He was questioned at "KOBAN" for about two hours and a half. It was found that his name is Pierre Pariseau and he is a Canadian wood furniture artist.
According to the witnesses, he has appeared at Yasukuni Shrine on August 15 for the last four years and has repeatedly obstructed the authorized gathering held at Yasukuni Shrine. He signed a letter of apology addressed to Mr. Tamogami, Yasukuni Shrine and Channel 2 Sakura.
It seems that this particular Canadian harbors a distorted perception of Japan being the same as "Nazi-Germany". Simply because Japan was tricked into a Tripartite Pact with Nazi-Germany by Adlof Hitler, it does not mean Japan had committed any atrocities as Nazi-Germany.
However, it is true that the allied powers used this mere fact of Japan having signed with Nazi-Germany as "a promotional material" in such a magnified manner as to defame Japan and her people. One good example I would like to cite here is that a Japanese diplomat saved more than 6,000 Jews from their plight. Ccompared with a German businessman named Oscar Schindler who saved 1,000 Jews, this Japanese diplomat has not been known to the world because the allied powers find it inconvenient and contradictory to what they have propagated.
Searchina reports that South Korea's recent moves to protest against Japan over its territorial claim reflects a political motive; that is, to pacify its people frustrated over internal affairs in South Korea as the presidential election will be held in 2012. To all Japanese nationals: Japan should closely watch what Mrs. Clinton states in her remarks on independence day of south korea. Korea never fought against Japan to gain independence from Japan at all before and during annexation of Korea by Japan because Korea asked for the annexation by Japan in those days in fear that Korea would be completely controlled by either Russia or the western powers. Korea Nominee Sung Kim Hopes to Better Relations between Seoul & Washington
Sung Kim, who will be the new US ambassador to South Korea once the Senate approves his nomination, spoke at a hearing before the Foreign Relations Committee in Washington on Thursday.
Having dedicated much of his professional career as a diplomat working on the partnership between Seoul and Washington, he said he hoped to make the alliance even stronger and more balanced.
[Interview : Sung Kim, US Ambassador to S. Korea Nominee] "My hope is, if confirmed, I will be able to draw on my experience and expertise to expand and enhance the bond between the two countries."
The 51-year-old diplomat served as the US envoy for the six-party nuclear talks since 2008 and when asked about North Korea, he said he plans to work closely with Seoul when dealing with Pyeongyang.
[Interview : Sung Kim, US Ambassador to S. Korea Nominee] "I hope to continue to contribute our common effort to achieve verifiable denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and better lives for the long-suffering people of North Korea."
However, he added that he doesn't believe Pyeongyang is ready to return to serious negotiations despite its calls for talks and that, in light of incidents over the past two years, the North needs to prove that it will be a serious partner when the long-stalled negotiations resume.
Kim is expected to win Senate confirmation, and when he does, he will be the first Korean American envoy to South Korea.
He will replace the current ambassador Kathleen Stephens, who will step down sometime next month.

He will arrive in Beijing at a delicate time in U.S.-China relations. The two countries only recently resumed military ties after a period of tension; China cut off most contact with the Pentagon last year after the United States sold arms to Taiwan and President Obama met with the Dalai Lama.
Yet even as they have become more competitive militarily and diplomatically, the United States and China are in some ways more intertwined than ever. China is the largest foreign holder of U.S. debt — a fact that now has China nervously watching the roiling debt ceiling debate in Washington.
Locke became the first Chinese-American governor during his rise to prominence in Washington state. His visibility and expertise in global trade has helped him nurture ties in the Chinese business world.
During his confirmation hearing in May, Locke received a largely friendly welcome from senators.
At the time, he told the Foreign Relations Committee that he would press the Chinese for market and legal reforms, saying they were in their own best interests. He also expressed concerns about human rights violations, noting China’s recent crackdown on journalists, activists and lawyers.
Prime Minister Kan reportedly apologized his cabinet members at ministers meeting held on May 31 for his failure to consult Mr. Kaieda, Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry, etc. before making an announcement on planned installation of solar panels in 10 million households at G8 Summit. He made an apology in response to an advice made by Mr.Nakano, Chairman, National Public Safety Commission in which he pointed out that we should share information and thoughts prior to any important announcements.
After the ministers meeting was over, Mr. Nakano stated "I just can't stop the feeling that his announcement was rather abrupt." http://bit.ly/lPUvbA
