South Korea seeks a seat as non-permanent member of the Security Council at the United Nations for the second time. Voting is scheduled on October 19. However, South Korea has not paid its budget dues. Dues delinquency rate of South Korea is 84% ranked the highest among the UN members. Some voice deep concern over the issue, wondering if it is proper to vote for the nation that has not satisfied basic obligations of the UN. The annual budget dues South Korea has to pay is only USD 17.9 Million while Japan pays 320.5 Million 18 times larger than the dues to be paid by South Korea.

国連の非常任理事国、南朝鮮は初と間違えました、二回目です。19日投票ですがここにきて南朝鮮の国連分担金の滞納率が84%で世界一であり、9月に一部払いはしたが果たしてこんな滞納率の国を選出していいのかという声もあります。ちなみに分担金は約14憶円で日本の約250憶円の十五分の一。
