Japan defeated France 2-1 at Wembley Stadium on August 6, the 67th anniversary of Hiroshima Massacre, to book her place in the final of the Women's Olympic Football Tournament while USA didn't miss a chance to play gold medal match with the world champion Japan by scoring a lucky goal in a semi-final with Canada, ending 4-3 after extra time.
Is this predtermined or just coincidental that Japan will face USA in the gold medal match on August 9, the 67th anniversary of Nagasaki Massacre ?
Just out of curiosity, I accessed FIFA official web site to study some statistics of the ongoing tournament and then was surprised to find out that US team has so far committed 65 fouls, the largest number among all the participating teams whereas Japan has been far behind US team, more precisely the smallest, only 23 fouls committed in the last five matches. US team has suffered 58 fouls while Japan 40.
Quite interesting to watch the gold medal match on August 9 to see who will be the Queen of "fouls".
