The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the Republic of Korea produced a propaganda poster designed to appeal to the world that so-called "comfort women" (a polite and indirect way of calling professional prostitues in Japan in the past) were forcibly mobilized by the Imperial Japanese Army during the Greater East Asia War.
As most of post war Koreans are illiterate or uneducated in Japanese characters (or Chinese characters), they used a newspaper advertisement for "Comfort women"=Prostitutes (a clipping from the old newspaper) published in those days at the request of the private personnel placement center, not knowing what it actually says. It says nothing about "Drafted" or "Mobilized" or "Forced" at all. It is just like any newspaper ad trying to recruit the qualified female individuals.
As soon as those educated in characters pointed it out, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the Republic of Korea quickly recovered the posters once widely distributed.
Notes:
Prostitution was legally practiced in Japan and was abolished soon after U.S. occupation of Japan was over.
The propaganda poster the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the Republic of Korea produced actually consists of three parts; 1. A newspaper clipping all written in Japanese characters, 2. A painting by Jak Lord Gangdeok,(access E-Museum of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the Republic of Korea if it is still available at E-Museum, Hermuseum Welcome to E-Museum for the victims of Japanese Military Slavery, Republic of Korea) 3. A photo showing some women presumably riding on a truck whose source is unknown.
tweets as follows:
Speaking of a Korean whore named "Moon Okuju=文玉珠", she saved up JPY 26,145 in those days almost equivalent to JPY 100 million at the current value. This is how much she saved up only in two years. How could you say she was raped? Please teach me how she could be called a victim of raping when she earned much more than Imperial Japanese Army General did.

Lee Yong-soo, ex-Korean prostitute claims that she was forced to work as a sex slave in Taiwan for three years from 1944. Hey, you! How long do you think Japan was fighting? She really makes me laugh! That's why I call her "a whore who leapt through time". (LOL)
