Tokyo Governor Mr. Shintaro Ishihara, known for his true patriotism, rebuffed Chinese territorial greed for Senkaku islands of Japan at his regular press conference today.
Ishihara fought off China with his inexhaustible barrage of words directed at Chinese territorial greed for Senkaku islands in an ironical manner when asked by the press to comment on Tokyo zoo giant panda showing signs of pregnancy.
Ishihara said "We would better give a name Senkaku to a baby panda, so that China can rule over it.". He continued to say "If twins are born, they should have "Sen Sen" and "Kaku Kaku", satirically expressing Chinese greed for "Senkaku" in a Chinese metaphoric manner.
According to the lease contract both Tokyo and China agreed on, Tokyo will return a pair of giant panda and babies back to China when the lease has expired. Tokyo pays China USD 950,000 a year for a pair of giant pandas. That's twice as much as U.S. pays China every year.
China has shown its ugly and greedy desire to expand its territories into Okinawa, Japan ever since 1971 only three years after the UN Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East (ECAFE, now called ESCAP) indicated in its report potential large reserves of oil and gas in Japan's territorial waters around Senkaku archipelago near Okinawa islands.
It was 1969 that Japan-US had just began negotiations on the reversion of Okinawa islands to Japan. There remains a question of why ECAFE had to publish the report on the potential large reserves of oil in and around the territorial waters of Japan just in time for the start of the negotiations vital to Japan. Is it just coincidental or intentional?
