Some South Korean media reported the possibility that Chinese hackers might have caused a nationwide blackout last Friday. China Organ.CN環球時報(a Chinese medium) denied the possibility by reporting that South Koreans tend to show a habitual mental attitude (mind-set ) to blame all cracking activities on China.
According to the report made by a South Korean newspaper, a computer network security company held a press conference in Seoul Friday afternoon and stated that the company found a video on a cracking-related website, showing an internal penetration into the server at the testing center of Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO) on September 3 and reported it to the National Iintelligence Service. The network security company further claimed that the recent power outage has been caused by cracking as the server at the testing center might have been connected to the internal network of KEPCO.
However, KEPCO denied the claim made by the network security company by saying that the National Intelligence Service had carried out investigation into a case of craking and had solved all the cracking related issues from September 7 to September 8.
