Committee for the Inquest of Prosecution in Naha, Okinawa finalized its decision on June 20 that Chinese trawler captain who rammed the Japan Coast Guard vessels last September in Japan's territorial waters near Senkaku Islands should be indicted over destruction of the vessels and illegal fishing due to the reason sufficient enough to suspect that those crimes have been committed by him.
In compliance with the decision made by the Committee, Naha Prosecutors Office will re-investigate the case. However, it hinted that a letter of indictment would not reach the suspect.
The decision made based on the fact that not only he repeatedly violated fishing laws and regulations but also he maliciously rammed the Japanese vessels, points out that the Chinese trawler captain has neither expressed his apology for wrongdoing nor compensated for the damage he should assume responsibility
