Japan's territorial issues were created by U.S.A., so that Japan would remain alienated from its neighbors due to stumbling blocks (territorial disputes) to smooth relations with her neighbors. Therefore, Japan has to maintain Japan-U.S. security pact as long as the issues remain unsolved. It’s called “Divide and Rule”. In the past decades, U.S. has maintained security treaty with Japan, however, U.S. has never fought for Japan. If U.S. is a true ally of Japan as U.S. claims, U.S. should protect and secure Japan's interests even in the area of territorial disputes.
