愛国者必読：みたままつり The 66th Summer Festival at Yasukuni Shrine #CNN #NYT #UN

Every year a large number of people(300,000 visitors) show up for a summer festival at Yasukuni Shrine. The summer festival called "Mitama Matsuri", literally meaning "Spirits Festival" that was conceived and began in 1947 based on a Japanese custom "Obon" to honor the spirits of one's ancestors.

During the festival, more than 30,000 large and small Japanese paper lanterns including those with Japanese words and phrases written all around in Japanese calligraphy by the well-known people brighten the night sky of Kudan, Tokyo where Yasukuni Shrine is situated at while Shinto rituals are performed inside the main shrine every night to honor the spirits of those enshrined there.

The festival of Mitama at Yasukuni Shrine will last for three days from July 14 to July 16. It includes different types of dance generally known as Bon-Odori, etc.

Relying on my cane, I have come all the way to see you "My son!".

Torri Gate seems thrusting in the sky,

I just can't help crying over happiness, knowing you are enshrined here as "a god"  at such a magnificent shrine.

Putting my hands together and kneeling down, I pray for you with Buddha's words on the spur of the moment instead of worshiping you.

All of sudden realizing what I'm doing, I get confused and panicky over it. Oh! My son! Please forgive me for being a country bumpkin.

注：

以下の情報は、ウィキペディアの靖国神社についての看過し難い米国による靖国神社焼き払い計画についての情報である。これにより米国は、長年に亘り如何に日本を蔑視しして来たかが良くわかる。同時に、ローマ教皇庁代表であり上智大学学長でもあったブルーノ・ビッテルの進言により靖国神社が焼き払いを逃れることができたとある。しかしながら、この情報は、如何にも恩着せがましいと思いませんか。

いずれにしても、米国は、真の友達ではないという証明である。

焼き払い計画

終戦後も靖国神社が存続したことについて、以下のような逸話が語られている。戦後に日本を占領したGHQは、靖国神社を焼き払いドッグレース場を建設する計画を立てていたが、賛否両論が巻き起こり収拾が付かなくなっていた。そこでローマ教皇庁代表であり上智大学学長でもあったブルーノ・ビッテル（Bruno Bitter、英語読みでビッターとなっている場合あり）神父に意見を求めることになった。ビッテル神父は「いかなる国家も、その国家のために死んだ戦士に対して、敬意を払う権利と義務があると言える。それは、戦勝国か、敗戦国かを問わず、平等の真理でなければならない」とし、「靖国神社を焼却する事は、連合国軍の占領政策と相容れない犯罪行為である」とまで言ったという。そして次の言葉で締め括った。

「靖国神社が国家神道の中枢で、誤った国家主義の根源であるというなら、排すべきは国家神道という制度であり、靖国神社ではない。我々は、信仰の自由が完全に認められ、神道・仏教・キリスト教・ユダヤ教など、いかなる宗教を信仰するものであろうと、国家のために死んだものは、すべて靖国神社にその霊をまつられるようにすることを、進言するものである」。この進言により靖国神社は焼き払いを免れたという。
