Maehara running for leadership of Democratic Party of Japan in the election to be held on Monday admitted six months ago that he had received political donations from a korean citizen in Japan. And, he resigned from the post of Foreign Minister. Since it is a serious crime in Japan to receive political donations from foreigners . The crime he has committed not only suspends his civil rights but also disqualifies him to remain as a parliamentarian if he is indicted, prosecuted, and found to be guilty of the crime as accused. Therefore, he should not run for the next leader of the party at all.
